5 Summer Grilling Safety Tips

While grilling can be an exciting way to spend time with the entire family while enjoying good company and of course, good food, it is important that you remember to follow the 5 necessary safety procedures to keep your barbecue fun safe:

  1. If you will be decorating for the gathering, refrain from putting any decorations on or near the grill.
  2. Location, location, location – Be sure to place your grill in a safe location. This means it should be on flat, stable ground and away from all combustibles. Never put your grill under a wooden overhang.
  3. Even if rain pours down on your party plans, never bring your grill inside. They are meant for strict outdoor use only.
  4. To avoid receiving phone calls blaming you for food poisoning, be sure to follow the basic safe food handling procedures.
  5. Have a fire extinguisher ready in case of an emergency. Be sure to check the expiration date.
