The Lafayette Area Community Harvest is a thrilling event hosted by the Urban Farmers of Contra Costa! This year, the Lafayette Area Community Harvest will take place on Sunday, September 7th from 9:00am until 1:00pm. This is an amazing opportunity to celebrate Grandparents Day with your entire family at this event!

This free event invites locals and nonlocals alike to harvest fruit from our very own community backyard as a team! All harvested fruit will be donated to the various agencies promoting hunger relief of Contra Costa County, including local soup kitchens and food pantries. Local shelters and the Food Bank of Contra Costa will also benefit from this event.

It is recommended that you wear closed-toed shoes and appropriate clothing depending on the day’s weather conditions. You will be outdoors for 4 hours so be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. You will also want to bring a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun’s UV Rays, as well as gardening gloves and a bag to bring some fruit home for sampling! Buckets, picking-poles, clippers, gloves, crates, and ladders will be provided for use. Preregistration is preferred.

Supporting the efforts of our local community is an amazing way to get your hands dirty while supporting a great cause! The Urban Farmers of Contra Costa are a grassroots, non-profit organization that harvest local produce for those in need. Through group efforts towards hunger relief, the Urban Farmers of Contra Costa believe it is possible to create a strong bonded community where everyone can enjoy fresh and local produce. This is an amazing event that you will not want to miss out on!
