John F. Kennedy University selected an already famous Orinda resident as one of its recipients of the 2014 Alumni of the Year Awards. Selected for "distinguished service" to their communities, noted former NBA player Adonal Foyle, is thrilled with this honor.

After contributing to the success of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic during his 13-year professional basketball career, Foyle continued furthering his education, while consistently giving back to his community and causes.

Among his commitments to improving lives and helping wherever needed, Adonal Foyle continues as a positive activist in and out of Orinda and the Bay Area. For example, his nonprofit, the Kerosene Lamp Foundation, promotes education and good health for children, sponsoring free basketball clinics across the Eastern Caribbean and US.

Also an accomplished author, he’s recently written an inspiring children’s book, Too-Tall Foyle, and another book, Why NBA Players Go Broke, a "must read" for professional athletes in all sports. Foyle is also holder of the ‘Athlete with a Heart‘ award from the American Heart Association.
