Daylight Saving Time is On March 8th

Spring is just around the corner, which means it is time to spring forward with your clocks for daylight saving time. On March 8th, make sure to turn your clocks ahead one hour so that you can enjoy an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day.

The time change officially happens at 2 a.m., but do not worry about waking up in the middle of the night to change the clocks. Smartphones, tablets, computers, and other digital devices will change time on their own, leaving only your analog clocks or clocks that are on your appliances, such as your microwave.

To help you and your children stay on schedule through the time change, keep these tips in mind.

  • Make your bedroom conducive to sleep – the longer hours of daylight mean that your bedroom may be brighter when you head to bed. Make sure to close your curtains and avoid any electronic lights, such as from your phone or TV while in bed. Also keep your room around 65 degrees to help you sleep your best.
  • Be consistent – if your child is having a hard time adjusting to the time change, be consistent. If you change their routine, they will not be able to adjust.
  • Try social cues – daily routines can help your body know when it is time to go to sleep. Keep the same order of your daily routines to help keep your body on schedule.
