Local Holiday Light Displays

There is no better way to enjoy the holidays than checking out some of the fun and festive houses that are decorated for the season. Check out all of these holiday lights in the local community that the whole family can enjoy!

The Mickey Mouse Christmas House in Marinwood has hundreds of lights that are set up to complement Mickey Mouse figures and other Disney memorabilia throughout the front yard. The display is created by 17 members of the Mize family, spanning three different generations.

The Oakland Zoo Lights up the African Veldt, and features thousands of lights that are strung throughout the grounds. There are also candy cane lanes that direct visitors onto the nighttime Outback Express Adventure rides and across the colorful meadow show that is specially decorated for the holidays. Since the animals will be sleeping during the night, the veldt will feature prehistoric Christmas dinosaurs and volcanoes that explode with thousands of lights.

Christmas Tree Lane in Alameda has been extravagantly decorating houses in the area since 1938. The residents of Thompson Avenue arrange the magical wonderland filled with thousands of decorations. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and take a stroll down the street to see the many different themes that line the road.

The San Francisco Zoo has special visitors during the holiday season, Belle, Holly, Peppermint, and Velvet, all reindeer on loan from Santa! There will be plenty of hot cocoa and cider to keep you warm while you visit with the special visitors and enjoy the chilly winter temperatures.
