Volunteer at the Concord-Martinez Area Community Harvest

Get into the spirit of giving early this year at the Concord-Martinez Area Community Harvest!

Fall is almost here, and it’s the perfect time to get into the spirit of giving! From volunteering at your local soup kitchen to visiting the nearest animal shelter, there are lots of ways in which you’re able to give back to your community. However, this month, you have the unique opportunity to participate in the Concord-Martinez Area Community Harvest.

Concord-Martinez Area Community Harvest

When: September 4, 2016

Where: Location will be disclosed after registration

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Cost: Free

Join The Urban Farmers for a chance to harvest local produce from neighborhood backyards. In an effort to help reduce hunger and poverty, the non-profit organization collects produce from your community to donate to local food banks. Come help The Urban Farmers harvest.

This three-hour opportunity gives you a chance to give back to your community. All you need to do is register and show up at the location provided. However, please keep in mind that space is limited.

There’s no need to travel more than 25 miles, and you’ll be provided with all the necessary harvesting equipment. Please wear closed-toed shoes and be prepared to get a little dirty. Don’t forget to come prepared with water, sun protection, gardening gloves, a snack, and a bag for the chance to bring some fruit home with you.

The more you put into your community, the more you’ll get back. Be an active participant in your Contra Costa community! For more information about the Concord-Martinez Community Harvest and other local events in the Contra Costa area, contact All About Contra Costa, your local community forum.
